Individual Counselling

A Tailored Path to Self-Understanding

Specialist One-to-One Autism-Informed Therapy

The heart of my professional life is spent in one-to-one therapeutic sessions with individual clients. I work with adolescents, adults, and older individuals, supporting both those who have a formal diagnosis of autism and those who are exploring whether autism may be part of their personal story.

Every individual on the autism spectrum is unique. Across my career in this field, I have worked with a wide range of presentations and spectrum profiles. Because of this, therapy is never formulaic; it is always carefully tailored to the person sitting in front of me.

Autism-Specific Understanding

Autism is not a single presentation. It intersects deeply with many areas of life, including anxiety, trauma, burnout, sensory overwhelm, masking, and workplace stress.

To truly support you, my work adapts to your specific needs:

  • Literal and direct communication styles: Ensuring clarity and reducing the exhaustion of interpreting hidden meanings.

  • Emotional regulation differences: Working with your nervous system’s unique response patterns.

  • Sensory sensitivities: Creating a space that respects your sensory profile.

  • Processing speed variations: Allowing the time and space you need to think and respond comfortably.

  • Black-and-white thinking patterns: Honouring how you view the world while gently exploring new perspectives.

  • Long-term masking fatigue: Addressing the profound exhaustion that comes from trying to “fit in” to a neurotypical world.

A Calm and Contained Space

Individual counselling offers a confidential, structured environment where we can explore the challenges that matter most to you:

  • Anxiety and Overwhelm: Finding strategies to navigate a world that can often feel too loud or too much.

  • Burnout and Exhaustion: Recovering from the cumulative stress of navigating neurotypical expectations.

  • Identity and Self-Understanding: Building a sense of self that is rooted in your actual experience rather than social expectations.

Our sessions are always paced thoughtfully and respectfully, ensuring the emotional safety and psychological containment you need to feel truly supported.

If you are looking for a therapist who understands the autistic experience from the inside out, I am here to help you navigate your journey.

The Sanctuary, A Space for Embodied Healing

Whether we meet to explore your neurodivergent identity or to process deep-seated trauma, the environment we work in is a vital part of your therapeutic journey. My practice in Weldon, Northamptonshire, is more than just an office; it is a sensory-informed sanctuary designed to support both traditional talking therapy and deep, somatic work.

A Room That Listens to Your Needs

I believe that your physical surroundings should offer the same validation and safety as our conversation. The therapy room features:

Comfort and Choice: Most clients enjoy our exceptionally comfortable “snuggler” chairs, which provide a relaxed yet supportive space for dialogue.

A Grounded Environment: For those engaging in body psychotherapy, a floor-based mattress configuration is available. This low-hierarchy arrangement enhances your sense of grounding and proprioceptive awareness, helping you feel truly supported by the earth beneath you.

Nature as a Co-Therapist: Large windows offer a calming view of the garden, providing a connection to the natural world that many find deeply grounding.

Sensory Warmth: During the colder months, the gentle visual rhythm and warmth of a log-burning stove provide an extra layer of sensory comfort to support our work.

If you would like to learn more about my dedicated somatic practice and the philosophy behind this embodied approach, I warmly invite you to visit my Body Psychotherapy website.

In-Person Connection

While I continue to offer secure video consultations for accessibility, there is a unique, relational depth found in working together in person. As a body psychotherapist, I value the shared energy of a physical space where we can fully attend to the “wisdom of the body” and facilitate experiences of embodied peace
